Hunster is incredibly grateful to serve as this year’s GHSYPS Co-Chair and collaborate alongside this team of remarkable leaders. He is excited to continue working on creating engaging atmospheres to promote learning, networking, and collaboration among this generation’s global changemakers. With a passion for health equity and community engagement, Hunster holds a Master of Science in Global Health degree from McMaster University and is an incoming medical student at the University of Toronto. He is currently the Director of Operations at the Institute for Youth Health and Development, a youth-led non-profit organization that seeks to improve the health of racialized, immigrant, and refugee youth in Toronto. Outside of work, Hunster enjoys travelling, hiking, breaking out of escape rooms, and exploring new cuisines.

Priscilla Pangan joins the 2020 Planning Committee as Co-Chair. Priscilla is a Project Officer at the Canadian Society for International Health (CSIH), an Ottawa-based NGO working to promote health equity worldwide. In this role, she supports international projects focused on health systems strengthening and maternal and child health. Priscilla is excited to connect with SYPs from all backgrounds and disciplines at this year’s Summit, and learn from the different perspectives everyone brings to global health field.

Sakshi is the Vice Chair for the GHSYPs Summit and is excited to be applying her skills in planning an event that contributes greatly to her professional interests. Specifically, she believes that international health management, Women and Child Health, and Mobile Health are areas of work that lack attention in the world today and should be pursued further in order to foresee a change in health worldwide.

Tamara is a recent graduate of the Master of Science in Public Health program at McGill University. Tamara is excited to be part of the planning committee this year as a co-lead on the speakers and programming team along with Matt and Enara. She has previously worked in a similar programming role at the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. Tamara has attended the GHSYP Summit for two consecutive years and presented her practicum experience at the Family Health Bureau in Sri Lanka at last year’s poster presentation. She is passionate about Global Health especially in the fields of humanitarian health, health system development with a focus on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Maternal and Child Health.

As a Communications (Graphic Design & Website) Lead, she is responsible for designing and creating promotional materials for the conference as well as working closely with Lauren, Communications (Marketing) Lead on promotional output. Lis holds a Master of Science in Global Health. She has worked in various not-for-profit organizations, including but not limited to United Nations Association in Canada, Stephen Lewis Foundation and Médecins Sans Frontières. Aside from volunteering on the GHSYPS 2020 Planning Committee, she is one of the Professional Development Executives at the Students and Young Professionals Network for the Canadian Coalition for Global Health Research. In her spare time, she enjoys running, playing board games, baking, and experimenting with new culinary creations.

As the Marketing & Social Media Lead, Lauren is responsible for creating the communications strategy for GHSYPS 2020 as well as the daily management of @GHSYPS social media channels. She has a Bachelor of Public Affairs and Policy Management from Carleton University with a specialization in Human Rights and a minor in Law. Since graduating, Lauren has worked in administrative and communications roles for Canadian non-profit organizations. She currently works as the Senior Public Engagement Officer for the Canadian Partnership for Women and Children’s Health (CanWaCH). In her spare time, Lauren loves to read. As a self-described bookworm, she is always on the hunt for the next best read.

Daniel Dilliott, Logistics Co-Lead for the GHSYPS Planning Committee, is managing all logistical aspects of the upcoming 2020 Summit alongside his fellow Co-Lead, Kathy Luu. Working closely with Kathy, the Co-Chairs, the Finance Lead and the Programming Co-Leads, Daniel will be responsible for facilitating a successful Summit from start to finish. Daniel received both his Master of Public Health and Honors Bachelor of Medical Sciences from the University of Western Ontario and is currently working as a Research Assistant at the Bruyère Research Institute. For the past two years, Daniel’s research has focused on improving the implementation of preventive chemotherapy for the control and elimination neglected tropical diseases in countries around the world. Daniel has developed extensive experience with project and event coordination by taking leadership roles in numerous student-led and non-profit initiatives over the course of his two degrees and early career. When he is not pursuing his interests in medicine and global health, Daniel enjoys playing sports, testing new recipes in his kitchen, playing his guitar, and checking out live shows, festivals and events around Ottawa.

As a Logistics Co-lead, Kathy is working with Daniel Dilliott to oversee the logistical elements and offer logistical and programmatic support to all parts of the summit. This role works closely with the Co-chairs, Finance Lead, and Programming Leads to ensure the successful execution of the GHSYPS. Kathy is currently a MSc candidate at the School of Public Health and Health Systems at the University of Waterloo. She demonstrates a history of conducting community-based research projects with various community partners and organizations in Canada and global contexts. Kathy is interested in understanding international healthcare delivery and management, and developing effective health policies that enable marginalized populations to access healthcare services. She is an active member on various student-led committees and associations, and has an extensive background in event logistics and planning. In her leisure time, Kathy enjoys reading, practicing hot yoga, and painting.

As the 2020 Finance Lead, Wil is responsible for budgeting and managing all GHSYPS Planning Committee finances. This role works closely with the Co-chairs and Logistic Leads to ensure financial oversight and accountability. Wil holds a Master of Public Health and an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Sociocultural Anthropology from Western University. He currently works as a Policy Analyst in the Office of International Affairs for the Health Portfolio on the Multilateral Relations Division and his main files are: Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO), WHO-Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO-FCTC), International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), and COVID-19 Response. Wil is passionate about global health governance, environmental determinants of health, and NCDs. During his spare-time Wil co-hosts a public health podcast with a panel of public health professionals exploring public health/ global health topics from around the world.

As a Partnerships Co-Lead, Jana is responsible for building relationships and coordinating collaborative opportunities with external organizations as well as funding for the successful execution of the GHSYP Summit 2020. She will be working very closely with the two other Partnerships Co-Leads, Sabina Iqbal and Zeba Khan. Jana holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from University of Ottawa and recently graduated from University of Montreal with a Master of Science in Public Health, after a professional internship at the World Health Organization (WHO) Emergencies Programme.  As a driven multi-tasker, Jana is very involved in the student community through different associations and works as a research associate for Spark Street Advisors, a think tank in global health.  In her spare time, Jana loves to discover new paths in nature, create jewelry and walk her family’s cat.

For GHSYPS 2020, Sabina will be acting as Partnerships Co-Lead along with Jana Martic and Zeba Khan. In this role, she will build on her funding acquisition and sponsor relations experiences to reinforce and expand GHSYPS’s current collaborative network. A recent graduate from the University of Toronto’s Psychology Specialist program, Sabina is currently a Bachelor of Nursing student at the University of New Brunswick’s collaborative program with Humber College. This past summer, she was employed by the World Parkinson’s Program as Programs Coordinator to redesign existing initiatives, secure new partnerships, and acquire grants for operations. In this role, she consolidated her previous experiences working with executive teams for non-profit organizations, student-led groups, and academic unions. An active member of the nursing student community, Sabina will be balancing her responsibilities for GHSYPS 2020 with her role as the Vice-President of Humber Nursing Society. For pleasure, Sabina enjoys experimenting with new recipes, reading, and daydreaming about her next travel adventure.

Passionate about community building, Zeba will be working with Jana Martic and Sabina Iqbal to strengthen our collaboration with external organizations. Zeba has recently earned her BSc. in Physiology and Neuroscience from the University of British Columbia and is excited to build a career in global health. A staunch believer of equal access to healthcare for all, Zeba is devoted to advocating for free access to menstruation care products. Her dedication to advocating for menstrual and healthcare equity has earned her multiple accolades, notably the prestigious Diana Award. When Zeba is not working or studying, you can find her capturing memories through her love for photography and blogging.
