Meet the Team

Satveer Kaur Dhillon

Co-Chair | Currently one of the co-chairs for the Global Health Students and Young Professionals Summit (GHSYPS), Satveer is a Master of Science student in Geography at Western University. Her current research focuses on the impact of COVID-19 on older adults and non-profit operations in Uganda and Ethiopia. Satveer is also part of several research projects focusing on various health and well-being outcomes among vulnerable populations in Canada and several countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. She is also part of CAGH’s Student and Young Professional Network Executive Committee as the Events Planning Co-Lead.

Mishail Bhatia

Co-Chair | Mishail is one of the Co-Chairs of the Global Health Students and Young Professionals Summit(GHSYPS) and the Member Engagement Co-Lead of the CAGH’s Students and Young Professionals Network Executive Committee(SYPN). As a public health professional, Mishail holds a Master of Public Health from Western University. She is currently working as a Policy and Research Analyst at Children’s Healthcare Canada. Mishail is passionate about global health equity, health policy, and reducing health inequities for marginalized populations.

Liliana Sisto

Speakers and Programming | Liliana Sisto is on the Speakers and Programming Committee for the Global Health Students and Young Professionals Summit. As a B.Sc. Environmental Science/Health Geography student at McGill University, she has chosen to pursue global health through research and community involvement. She is currently conducting research for a seminar series on primary care in Canada with the McGill School of Population and Global Health. Liliana plans to pursue a Masters and PhD in Epidemiology with a focus on how physical and social environments can impact communal health. To continue advancing her experience in global health, Liliana will be participating in a research-study program across East Africa.

Jessica Lu

Speakers and Programming | Jessica is a first-year medical student at McGill University with a particular interest in global health and health advocacy. As part of this year’s Speakers and Programming Team, she is responsible for developing the theme and sub-themes of the GHSYPS as well as overseeing the coordination of the Summit’s program. She is passionate about addressing health inequities in Canada and abroad, and approaching health issues from a multidisciplinary perspective. She is looking forward to learning more from this year’s speakers, and she is beyond excited to collaborate with the rest of the Planning Committee to offer an enriching GHSYPS experience to all! In her free time, she loves baking sweets, crocheting, and long-distance running!

Alisha Kabani

Communications, Marketing and Social Media | Alisha Kabani is the Communications, Marketing and Social Media Team Lead for the Global Health Students and Young Professionals Summit. She is currently pursuing her Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences from Western University and has a passion for improving the overall health and wellbeing of others through capitalizing on the intersection of innovation, health research and medicine. Throughout her undergraduate, her research endeavours have been rooted in the fields of Bioethics and Global Health. She also has an overarching interest in creating effective and innovative solutions to improve healthcare access in LMIC and other underserved communities.

Esther Kim

Communications, Marketing and Social Media | Esther Kim is a Communications, Marketing and Social Media Executive Team Member for the Global Health Students and Young Professionals Summit. She is a settler of Korean descent, born and raised in British Columbia. She is a recent graduate of the Master of Public Health program at the University of Toronto, with specializations in Indigenous Health and Environment & Health. She also has a BASc in Cognitive Science and Health Geography from McGill University. Esther is passionate about community-based research and working together to develop culturally safe healthcare systems. When she is away from the computer, she enjoys reading, going on walks, and playing the piano.

Harveen Saini

Logistics | Harveen is one of the Logistics co-lead for the 2023 GHSYPS. Originally from Calgary, Harveen recently moved to Hamilton to pursue her Master’s in Public Health at McMaster University. She completed a BSc in Kinesiology with a minor in Psychology and an Embedded Certificate in Leadership Studies. She is passionate about mental health advocacy and education. Back in her Calgary, she is a project coordinator for SAYMH (South Asian Youth Mental Health) where they work to destigmatize and educate South Asian communities about mental health.

Folakemi Adufe Jolaoso

Logistics | Folakemi’s main interests are global health nutrition, health systems, international development, and social innovation. At the bedrock of these interests is a firm belief in evidence, advocacy and policy development as tools for social change. Thus, she enjoys crunching data to generate evidence and mobilizing the knowledge generated to inform advocacy and policy development. Her devoted commitment to Nutrition and Public Health has seen notable achievements. She led a team to produce an affordable and nutritious baby formula to alleviate malnutrition among low to middle-income earners in Nigeria. In addition, I have won several notable awards, including the 2022 Alberta Top 30 under 30, De-United Indomie Scholarship Award, and the 2017 UTC Annual Prize.

Rose Mary

Finance and Partnerships | Rose-Mary Tazinya is the Finance and Partnership Liaison for Global Health Students and Young Professionals Summit. She is a public health physician with over 10 years of experience in the domains of Reproductive Health and Infectious diseases in Sub-Saharan Africa. She obtained a Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Buea in Cameroon, after which she did a Master’s in public health methodology at the Université Libre de Bruxelles in Belgium. In September 2022, she started a new journey as a Ph.D. student in Population Health at the University of Ottawa, Canada.
